And now I'm reminded of why I had largely stopped using my dA account: the submission interface is painful. My Seoul album on Flickr contains about 120 pictures from my trip, most uploaded while I was away which meant my family could see what I was experiencing, and at the full resolution which meant I had an ironclad backup of all my pictures. I uploaded in batches in the evening using 1001 or the iPhoto export filter which made it easy to tag, comment and title everything. dA on the other hand forces me to resize and navigate through a hierarchy of dialogue screens to classify each image.
I realise the cumbersome dA interface is at least partially designed to filter out unnecessary quantity, the very opposite of Flickrs ease-of-use, but I can do without the adolescent pretentiousness of the "art" label. I also realise dA and Flickr have different, if overlapping, purposes. I suspect I'll continue to use dA irregularly because I enjoy the work of most of those I Watch but I've found something that suits me better.
